Let's start with the name! Birch trees have to my favorite tree— there's just something about them. I love to garden and when my flowers bloom in the Spring, it's the best sight after a Michigan winter! Hence the name Birch + Bloom. 

When I first starting making candles, I wanted to go the rustic mason jar route but quickly realized that was what everyone was doing; or so it seemed. I want to be different, unique, a brand of my own. So, I asked myself what would I want in a candle? I came up with the following: 

• Great smelling (but not too strong)
• Eco-friendly materials (we only have one Earth)
• Wood wick (the crackle of a wood wick is so calming)
• Clean and long burning (this took testing and months!) 
  
• Neutral design (can go in any home or decor)
• Clean label design (I wanted something you don't see on every candle) 

I scoured the internet for candle vessels, wood wicks, wax, and fragrance oils that met my candle criteria. It took time...a lot of time! Then the testing phase...I can't even begin to to explain the number of candles that are sitting in my "nope!" bin in my basement because they failed the scent, burn test or just wasn't to my approval. (It's a lot.) 

Through trial and error, months of hard work, here is Birch + Bloom. I hope my candles and soaps exceed your expectations and your share them with your friends and families. I know they add a touch of comfort to my home and I hope they do the same for your home as well!
